My site was down (for four days) earlier this week and it’s forced me to switch hosting providers to HostGator. It was a referral from an old school friend of mine, Dimitri Vasdekis who runs a quality headphones store from his home at HeadSonic. Can’t wait to see how it turns out.
As for Powweb (which sucks), I guess I can’t expect too much from a shared hosting provider, but four days worth of downtime for my little site is just unacceptable. To make things worse, their response to my query about their downtime, only took them two and a half days to fully address. I’ll let you know when I’ve switched over to HostGator - such anticipation. I’ll be glad to get away from all the MySQL errors, Internal Server errors and general slow speed on their plan.
Apparently this is a result of overselling their plan. It doesn’t surprise me with the amount of promotions they encouraged their users to do - I also never received my bonus credit for the promo I did not that I’d like to continue with Powweb anyway.

Ironically, at the time of posting this entry, I was hosting my site on Powweb! Thanks guys. Enjoy the free publicity.

Down for 4 days!! Can’t believe, a hosting company being this careless.

You have no idea… When I realised it was down, I knew that there was nothing I could do. So I just had to wait 4 days for it to be resolved.
Fortunately, I’m now with an excellent web host, called HostGator. So far the site seems to be way more responsive and they’ve got a good record for reliability.
It’s funny to think that if I never encounterd so much downtime, I’d never have realised how much powweb sucks - or worse yet, I’d never have found a more reliable and responsive host.

Another hosting provider I’ll be sure to avoid. 4 days of downtime is absolutely ridiculous, nevermind having to wait 2 days for them to address your concerns.
